Cortile Cup 2021 Winner: 1956 Lancia aurelia b24 Spider
Manufactured from 1955 to 1958, the Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider was a first for its time. It is a shortened B20 series IV platform keeping the coupé's 2.5L V6 and rear transaxle, 4-speed gearbox. The body was made by the Carrozzeria Pininfarina featuring a wrap-around windshield without any side glass panels or windows. A total of 521 B24 spiders were produced in its four-year production span. Eventually in 1958 the Lancia Aurelia was brought to the United States of America with many additional features the European B24's did not have. The "American" model featured a removable convertible hardtop, roll-down windows, and a redesigned front and rear bumper to comply with American regulations.

Alfa Romeo Winner: 1991 Alfa romeo sz

Fiat purchased Alfa Romeo in 1986 and soon wanted to remodel and rejuvenate the brand with a big statement. With the help of the Italian Carrozzeria Zagato, Alfa Romeo did just that. The Alfa Romeo SZ made its debut at the 1989 Geneva Autoshow as the "ES-30," but on its launch later that year it was named the Sprint Zagato, or SZ. The bulky design of the SZ is aerodynamic was a drag coefficient of 0.30 helping it achieve its top speed of 245 km/h or 152 mph. The car is not all sharp edges though; the windshield and roof form the iconic Zagato "double-bubble" allowing for more airflow over the roof to the, high mounted, rear spoiler. The production life of the SZ only lasted three years, producing 1,000 standard SZ's and 36 special editions.

Ferrari Winner: 1986 ferrari 328 gts

The Ferrari 328 is an evolution and the successor of the Ferrari 308. Ten years after the 308's debut, the 328 was launched in 1985 and was produced for four years as a GTB and a GTS model. Both the 328 and 308 share largely the same 3.2L V8 engine with the exception that the 328 has updated electronics. There were some visual updates, facilitated by Pininfarina, to the 328, most-notably a redesigned front and rear bumper. Ferrari produced a total of 6,068 328's with the GTS production outnumbered the GTB nearly 5:1. Both GTS and GTB models feature a rear roof spoiler that keeps the car stable when driven at its top speed of 262 km/h or 163 mph.

Fiat Winner: 1957 fiat 1100

The original Fiat 1100 was created in 1937 as an updated version of the 508 Balilla (508C). Throughout the next 16 years, the 1100 would undergo multiple production variations such as the 1100B and the 1100E, but in 1953 the Fiat 1100 recieved a complete redesign. This new design featured a four-door sedan configuration with a monocoque body and integrated front headlights. The Fiat 1100 that was presented at the 2021 Cortile Della Corsa featured these 1953 design changes. After another body update in 1960, the Fiat 1100 continued to be produced until 1969 when it was succeeded by the Fiat 128.

The 1947 Lancia Aprilia Berlina was an evolution from the original Lancia Arpilia that was unveiled in 1936. The production years of the Aprilia name lasted from 1937 to 1949. The Aprilia Berlina was manufactured by Lancia from 1946 to 1948; this four-door sedan was one of the first family cars designed in a wind tunnel. When in testing, this car achieved a record low drag coefficient of 0.47 earning the name Berlinetta Aerodinamica. Over the years of production, the Lancia Aprilia Berlina had many iterations including Lusso (luxury) and Lungo (Lengthened) models totaling in 20,082 models produced by Lancia with only 7,554 vehicles produced as an Aprilia Berlina.

Lamborghini Winner: 1973 lamborghini espada

The Espada was named after the Spanish word "Espada" meaning "sword, referencing the sword that a toreo uses to kill the bull in a bull fight. The Lamborghini Espada was built and designed in conjunction with the Carrozzeria Bertone from 1968-1978. The design that was produced was a four-seater GT featuring a 3.9L V12 engine, yet the Espada went through three series changes in attempts to update design flaws, the interior, power upgrades, and impact bumpers to comply with United States of America safety requirements. This 1972 Espada, that won "Best Lamborghini" in the 2021 Cortile Cup, is an early Series III car that did not feature the U.S. specification bumpers and is one of 1,217 Espadas ever produced.

Maserati Winner: 1974 maserati bora

In the early 1960s, Maserati was financially struggling and was not able to afford the costs of engineering a new mid-engine sports car, but in 1968 Citroën purchased Maserati allowing for a new proposal. In partnership with Italdesign and with the monetary funds from, the now parent company, Citroën, Maserati could finally fulfill its concept designs on a mid-engine sports car. Initially named as Tipo 117 and later renamed as the Bora, the concept became reality in 1969 and then debuted at the Geneva Salon in 1971 as a production car. Though, soon after its debut the 1970s oil crisis disrupted sales and Maserati only produced a total of 524 Boras. Each model came equipped with a Citroën hydraulic system which operated the brakes, retractable headlights, and interior functions; the Bora was powered by a 4.7L V8 engine capable of 316 horsepower.

As the successor of the Citroën DS, the Citroën SM was the next step into the future as a car manufacturer and company. After buying Maserati in 1968, Citroën combined its hydraulic engineering with and French styling with Maserati's engine components. Introduced in 1970, the SM featured a 2.6L V6 engine built by Maserati to force its way into the luxury/performance market of the late 60s and early 70s. When exported to America, the SM competed against car like the Cadillac Eldorado and the Ford Thunderbird. Unfortunately, only two years after the SM's production ended Citroën declared bankruptcy in 1974 closing its doors and ceasing to produce another car.
